Ellah Lakes Plc, Nigeria’s leading agro-industrial company, has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Agro-Allied Resources & Processing Nigeria Limited (ARPN) from its Singaporean parent owners, Tolaram Africa and Valuestar Holdings.
This deal, which follows shareholder approval at Ellah Lakes’ Extraordinary General Meeting in July 2025, represents a big step in expanding the company’s farming and processing operations.
What Ellah Lakes is Buying
Total land size: 24,269 hectares.
Oil palm plantations: 6,280 hectares already planted.
Cassava plantations: 2,093 hectares.
Uncultivated land: 10,393 hectares, offering room for future expansion.
Palm age profile: 60% of trees are over 4 years old (about to hit peak productivity), 30% between 2–4 years, and 10% under 2 years — ensuring both immediate and future harvest growth.
Why This Matters
With this acquisition, Ellah Lakes will more than double its production footprint, increase processing capacity, and strengthen its position as a key player in Nigeria’s food and agriculture sector. The deal also supports the country’s food security goals by boosting local palm oil and cassava production.
The transaction still requires approval from regulators, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). If all conditions are met, the acquisition is expected to be completed by December 2025.
What Leaders Are Saying
Chuka Mordi, MD/CEO of Ellah Lakes, said the acquisition will “double our footprint, accelerate earnings growth, and position Ellah Lakes as a national champion in agro-industrial production.”
Madhukar Khetan, MD/CEO of ARPN, noted that planting 6,280 hectares of palm seedlings in a short period was a remarkable achievement and expressed confidence that Ellah Lakes’ expertise will scale the platform even further.
Investor Insight
For shareholders, this acquisition could be transformational. It gives Ellah Lakes access to ready-to-harvest oil palms, cassava land, and thousands of hectares for future expansion. This means both short-term revenue growth and long-term scalability. If successfully completed, investors may see stronger earnings, but they will also watch how Ellah Lakes manages the costs and integration of such a large asset base.
